We’ve been appointed Chosen Charity!

We’ve had wonderful support for raising our profile over the past year and are so grateful to those individuals and organisations who have chosen to make a point of supporting Alexandra House of Joy.  Of course, with the outbreak of COVID-19 and the necessary social distancing requirements, much of the fundraising activity is now on hold.  However, we want to make a point of saying thanks to those who are supporting us.

In this blog post we want to say a special thank you to those who selected us to be Charity of the Year.  Here are the details:

Chosen as Local Charity

We are absolutely thrilled that Alexandra House of Joy was chosen by both the Mayor of Bicester and the Chairman of Oxfordshire County Council as Charities of the Year for May 2019 – May 2020.

Thank you so much to the Mayor of Bicester, Cllr Jason Slaymaker, for selecting us as one of the four charities supported by his fundraising during the year.  What a privilege it has been to have this support, thank you Mayor.

A huge thanks also to Cllr Les Sibley, who appointed AHoJ as one of the three charities to receive fundraising support during his year as Chairman of Oxfordshire County Council.  This support has been wonderful.  In October 2019, Ian and I were invited to the Charity Civic Dinner at the Hopcroft Hotel, Deddington by the Chairman of OCC.  This formal evening was to fundraise for Alexandra House of Joy, and we received a cheque for £2,050 which was wonderful.

Chosen as National Charity

In November 2019, Ian and I were thrilled to be invited up to Fishmongers Company Hall, London Bridge, London, to meet with the head of Fishmongers and the Events Committee.  They have chosen us to be their Charity of the Year which is amazing.
