Afternoon Tea Dance with Cloud 9

On July 24th 2022 a wonderful afternoon tea was served by the very kind and generous owner and staff of The Littlebury Hotel, Bicester to raise funds for our Charity. The setting was perfect and 70 people came to it making it a very successful event indeed.

The Cloud 9 Band came to entertain playing delightful nostalgic 1940’s music and it was a joy to see some of the guests get up and dance. It was a lovely afternoon tea dance!

Once again we are indebted to the incredible kindness of Mike McKeown and his staff (especially the chef!) for such a memorable afternoon. Enormous thanks goes also to the fabulous Cloud 9 Band – Amanda, Des, Celia, Daniel and Emily. Celia was very ill that day, and her place was taken by her 15 year old daughter Emily, who did a wonderful job. Our thanks also go to Emily Lane and her friend Hannah, two student friends who very kindly came to wait at the tables. They did a fantastic job. Thanks also to Kathy Liddell for the work beforehand on advertising and ticket sales, to all the very generous people who gave prizes for the raffle, and for everyone who bought the tickets and came to support us.

£713 was raised for which we are very grateful. How blessed we are to have such wonderful support.

Banbury Charity Craft Fair

This fundraising event was a big undertaking. A total of 30 crafters came to support the Charity event on July 31st 2022, as well as the Coffee Guys, and Superior Gourmet Burger Bar. The weather stayed dry which was a big relief and we had a fairly good footfall. We had entertainment from a very talented Acoustic Guitarist, and a Raffle and Tombola run by Estrada EMC Ltd.

The Crafts were very diverse and each one really unique, and our Alexandra House of Joy stall was packed with beautiful items made by very gifted and talented supporters of our Charity.

Richard Slatter and team

Richard Slatter and team who set up the 30 stalls

Very many thanks once again to Tom Duckham for allowing us to run the event, to Richard Slatter and his team who worked so hard to plan, create and build all the market stalls and gazebos (a huge task), to Julie Ann Downs for her work behind the scenes to set it all up, to Thomas of Estrada for his generosity and support, to Charlie Tarry for the great music, and to Sharon Betterton for her huge help with our stall.

£795 was raised! Another great day helping to get us another step towards our final building cost target.

Wendlebury Community Choir Fundraiser Raised £1,250

Wendlebury Community Choir Summer Concert PosterCatie Williams – Administrator/Organiser of the Wendlebury Community Choir, chose our Charity (AHJ) to raise money for, by presenting a Concert, held over two evenings in July, in the lovely old historic Wendlebury Parish Church.

Both evenings were an absolute pleasure to attend. The choir, and the music they sang, was a magnificent production with Mark Burden (Musical Director) at the helm, and Julian Cordy (accompanist) magically guiding everyone through on the ivory keys!

We are once again very humbled at people’s wonderful kindness. The brilliant sum of £1,250 was raised for Alexandra House of Joy. Thank you so much to every single person concerned.

Fun Day at The Swan School Raises £156

Banbury Saturday Market Stall

Banbury Market

Our Banbury Saturday Market Stall continues to run every week, weather permitting. We can be found there also on Thursdays sometimes. We began selling on the stall there in June 2021 and it is a very successful trading place, supported by donors who give amazing items to sell, and lovely customers who come and buy those items.
To date, sales from the market stalls have contributed over £8,260 towards our total goal of £3 million!

Banbury Market StallWe are immensely grateful to everyone concerned – to Jenny who helps at times on the stall, and Jane and Lisa who run other stalls on behalf of the charity. We are indebted to them and feel very blessed. Our continued thanks also go to Tom Duckham, Richard Slatter and the team who work so hard in all kinds of weather, behind the scenes, setting up the stall for us to use.
